Adhesive for extreme conditions
Epoxy resin system Weicon Fire Safe
Weicon,
adhesive manufacturer based in Münster, Germany, has developed a
flame-retardant adhesive system suitable for use under extreme conditions –
Weicon Fire Safe.
For fire protection applications
Fire
Safe is a white, flame-retardant, 2-component adhesive. It has a thick
consistence and can be applied with a spatula. It is suitable for applications
in the fire protection sector and is used to bond wear protection ceramics or
steel parts to many different surfaces, such as metal or concrete. The adhesive
system has a high bonding strength, is hard-flexible after curing and has been
modified to be impact-resistant. Even under the most extreme conditions, the
adhesive does not become brittle. It shows good wear protection properties in
particle erosion, has good chemical resistance and is solvent-free. Fire Safe
contains additives that cause self-extinguishing within a few seconds. It was
tested according to DIN EN ISO 340 at DMT in Dortmund and passed the test
successfully.
Suitable for many industrial sectors
The
special adhesive can be used in many areas of application. Whether for
fastening fire partitions and covers or components with fire resistance
requirements.
Fire Safe can be used in many industrial areas, such as in refineries, in cement production, in the chemical industry, in container construction, in fittings construction or in insulation technology.
Plastic Metal
The term Plastic Metal describes epoxy resin systems, which consist of two components, one resin and one hardener. Depending on the type, the resin component is mixed with steel, aluminium powder or mineral fillers, all of which improve the technical characteristics, such as the compressive strength and thermal conductivity.
The
epoxy resin system is suitable for a broad range of applications in different
industrial areas. Plastic
Metal can be used, for example, in industrial series production for adhesive
bonding, coatings and durable repairs on different materials. After
mixing the two components, the Plastic Metal cures at room temperature to a
solid, metal-like material, which can then be machined. It can be drilled,
milled, sanded or filed, if required.
